A Great Start for 2013!

Hello and a very good morning to all of you!

Not long ago, Supplies Surprise came back, in Beii's words "with a BAM!!!" as we had our first bazaar of the year 2013. It was our 9th Supplies Surprise Bazaar. And it did come back with a BAM! indeed =) And we owe it all to our awesome vendors and lovely customers who helped to promote the handmade spirit through our bazaar! We are forever grateful to each one of you for your support and interest.

This time round, we had a few changes to our bazaar.

CURATED VENDORS:
Previously we operated on a "first come first served" basis. This meant that whichever vendor signed up first would automatically be on the vendor list unless they did not meet our basic criteria.

This SSB 9, we accepted as many registrations as possible, and curated each vendor, doing research on their products and interesting supplies. We then picked the best possible mixture of vendors to be in SSB9. It was a very difficult process indeed, with so many qualified vendors, with good products.
However, we were strictly limited by physical space.

REGISTRATION PROCESS:
Haha this was a challenging change and I must personally thank all the vendors for putting up with my inadequacies and mistakes I might have made.

Thank you all for your kind understanding and patience! Instead of the previous system of choosing booths in a "first come first served basis", Beii wanted to allow vendors to be able to choose their own booth space before the actual bazaar day to save the stress and tension of vendors having to come very early.

We hope it went alright. But we are definitely working on improvements =) Again, thank you for your valuable feedback.

LESS BOOTHS, MORE SPACE:
As mentioned above, we cut down our booth quota from the previous 35 booth to only 30 booths. After useful and honest feedback from vendors and also our personal observations, Beii decided that it would be best to have less booths.

This way, each booth will have more space, allowing vendors to work comfortably. And equally important, we hoped that it would create a better shopping experience for our customers with wider 'walk-ways'.

RENOVATED:
BFree Studio was renovated over SSB's long hiatus, and we now have a new arrangement. Although it is still a new floor plan, we hope to improve it further benefit our vendors in terms of booth placings and arrangements.

HOMEMADE FOOD!
This time round, we had our in-house Cafe with a yummy menu of the Famous Chicken Curry Briyani Rice, Vegetarian Fried Rice, Healthy Salad, and Pasta with sides of sausage and salad. We make reservations for vendors, but make some extras too, so if you're lucky you might be able to grab yourself some good food when you visit us next SSB.

And I saved the Best for last! We had a fairly successful Birthday Surprise for our dear dear Beii!
We are so happy to have all of our SSB9 vendors celebrate with us, and I must thank all of you for actually staying back (instead of rushing off as you usually do >.< ) after the photo shoot!
I'm almost positive we had A LOT OF FUN?

If you missed SSB9, no sweats! SSB10 will be happening on the 6th of July,
and vendor registration will be opening soon.

A note to all vendors: We are trying to operate on a rotation basis to give potential vendors a chance for exposure in our bazaar. So if you have applied previously but did not get accepted, please do try again! We want to offer our visitors a good variety of supplies and maintain the quality of our bazaar =)

Make Someone Happy Today!

Hello!

There has been rain clouds over me these few days. So I thought of sharing some super quick "pick-me-up" crafts that you can make to brighten someone's day or just to make them smile!

Most projects are themed, but with a little bit of improvisation, you can personalize it. Not sure what to write? I've included some suggestions at the end of this post.

Below each image are my suggestions for personalizing your DIY.
Click on the images to link to tutorial/printable file.

1. Free Printable Tags by MoreCozy

IMPROVISE: Write a message behind the tag. It can also be used as bookmarks.

2. Free Printable Dr. Seuss Quote Posters by Minted Strawberry

NO improvisation needed here! ^___^ Just print , roll it up and tie a ribbon around it!

3. Paperclip Bookmarks by Crystal from The Weekend Homemaker

IMPROVISE: Insert a small note with the paper clip

4. Paper Airplane Boy Valentines by Delia Creates

IMPROVISE: You can skip the heart altogether, if you want to and change the message into your own message.

5. Valentine Pencil Toppers by Valerie of Inner Child Fun

IMPROVISE: Cut a strip of paper, fold around pencil or pen as shown in image. Glue paper together, or use a stapler to secure the paper to the pen/pencil. Staple as close to the pencil/pen as possible. You can even doodle or cut the ends in a "V" shape to make it look like a flag/banner. Write your own short note!

6. Printable Fortune Cookies by Amanda of Kind Over Matter

IMPROVISE: Use plain paper (draw your own doodles) , or cupcake liners (some already come in pretty colors or patterns). Use a stapler instead of glue to speed up your project.
Write a happy note instead of a fortune. =P

Not Sure What to Write?
Here are some suggestions:
  • Thank you for being a great friend!
  • You make me happy!
  • Smile! Somebody Loves You!
  • Hello, Beautiful!
  • You rock my world!
  • Sending some happiness your way!
  • Smile!
  • Keep your chin up!
  • Be Happy!
  • Have a Great Day!
That's all I've got in my head now >.< I'm sure you are all more creative than this!

So make someone happy today! Its super quick, inexpensive and I'm sure all the supplies can be found around you (in your house/ better still office!).

Have Fun!

Crafting Tips: Ribbon Storage

Today I want to share about ribbon storage that works. This will be one of a series of posts on organizing craft spaces =) If you're into handmade and love DIY or even just hoarding pretty ribbons, I'm sure these simple ideas will help a lot!

So here are my top 5 favorites:

Spunky Junky shared her simple but effective ribbon storage
for those of us who buy ribbons by the spool!
And its in expensive too!

Ever wonder what to do with those 'not long enough but too short' ribbon remnants?
Louise from My May Sunshine has a brilliant idea to keep things organized!
I am definitely giving this a try!

Another simple and inexpensive way for storing small amounts of ribbons, threads, yarns etc.
making these simple paper bobbins using recycled cardboards.

Anthea of TalesFromMountPleasant organized her ribbons on long bobbin cards. These are fantastic, and I love how she labeled the ribbon details on the paper bobbins. At one point I had my stash of ribbons organized this way too. It works great and is a real space saver. Plus you could organize them according to color or type per card, whatever your preference. (Visit her blogpost where she also shares a ribbon bookmark idea!)

Helena from Craft and Creativity shared her awesome project using tictac casings to store thinner ribbons! This would look so neat! Go check out her tutorial and post HERE.

Natalie from Doodle Craft showed how she used tongue depressors or large craft sticks to store ribbons.
I've personally tried this before, and it works great! Just remember not to wind the ribbons to tightly. I wound them up too tightly and when I unwound it, it had creases >.< so be gentle hahaha

Happy organizing!

Friday Freebies: Printable bookplates

Happy Friday Y'all!

Do you love books?

I sure do! And not only do I love reading, I love to have and to hold the book, feel the pages and outline whatever captures my heart.

So, obviously, I'm not a fan of kindle or whatever "book" that isn't a REAL book!

If you love books too, here's some printable book plates for you to stick on your books to proudly state that it belongs to you!
(I have also included some blank ones for labeling whatever you want)

Enjoy!

Have a Great Weekend!

Make Memories!

It's Christmas Eve! I hope you are all having wonderful plans with friends and family, and nothing helps keep memories like awesome photos! So remember to take out your cameras and snap the beautiful moments!

If you're into scrap-booking, I have found that having what you want in mind when you take photos is a good way to start. That way, it's easier to make the photos flow and have continuity. But it doesn't really matter if you don't like to plan ahead. After all candid shots are the best aren't they?

Here are some creative ways to capture the moments of the season!

Friday Freebies: Festive Food-picks

So it's Friday, and it's not the end of the world...yet. Hahaha, so here at THM we are giving you a free tutorial just to celebrate Fridays (and also the cancellation of "the end of the world" if you'd like). These are really simple and cute to make!

I had so much fun putting it together, and I can just imagine how adorable it would be to use it on everyday foods (fruits, cakes, finger food etc.) to add instant Christmas cheer! Imagine them as cupcake toppers!

And the other fun thing about them is that they can be made into cards or ornaments too. I have made a printable template for you that includes 3 different sizes so you can try making cards with the bigger ones. I did actually make a card, but gave it to a dear friend... without taking a photo!!!

Have Fun!!!

Happy Crafting,

Eco Friendly Ornaments

How are you today?

I hope you've all gotten over your Monday blues? If you haven't I hope my small selection of handmade ornaments will brighten up your day a little.

In line with my previous post on "alternative" Christmas trees (read it HERE), here are some handmade eco-friendly Christmas ornaments. It's a mixture of rustic and modern styles that lend a fresh look from the traditional ornaments you would expect to see. These are no ordinary typical baubles, and best of all, they are all handmade! Enjoy!

An Alternative Christmas

Heya!

Christmas is just round the corner. Have you put your Christmas tree up yet? This year, I am particularly attracted to the many alternatives that you can have instead of the traditional tree.

At first, it only caught my attention because they looked so pretty but still maintained the Christmas-sy feeling while providing something fresh for the eyes. But after some good blog-surfing, I came to know that there are so many plus points to the "alternative" Christmas Tree!
